Biography

I earned a B.Sc. (1st Class Honors) in Computer Science and Engineering from the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 2004. I obtained MS and PhD in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the Colorado State University, Fort Collins, USA, in 2008 and 2012, respectively. I also have diplomas and certifications in psychology, college teaching, and security products from WatchGuard. I joined the Dept. of Computer Science and Engineering at the University of Moratuwa, Sri Lanka, in 2005. I was later promoted to senior lecturer grade I and II in 2012 and 2017, respectively. In 2019, I joined Data61 of the Commonwealth Scientific and Industrial Research Organisation (CSIRO), Australia. Later in the same year, I joined the School of Computer Science and Engineering, University of New South Wales (UNSW), Australia, as a Conjoint Senior Lecturer. My research interests include Distributed Systems (Blockchain, Cloud, and P2P), Computer Security, Software Architecture, Data Engineering, and IoT (Internet of Things). I am particularly interested in the multi-disciplinary applications of those technologies in supply chains, digital finance, fleet management, weather monitoring, and smart cities. I have 10 years of consultancy expertise in Blockchain, Security, Cloud, Software Architecture, and Performance Engineering. I am a Senior Member of IEEE and a Member of IESL (The Institution of Engineers, Sri Lanka). I was an IEEE student member (2007-2012), ACM Member (2014-2016), and president of the student leadership council of the NSF Engineering Research Center for Collaborative Adaptive Sensing of the Atmosphere (2010-2012).
